Set in the Jazz Age of love and ambition, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic The Great Gatsby comes back to life in a truly opulent showcase of period authenticity and lavish lifestyle. Designed by Baz Luhrmann’s wife, Catherine Martin, the production called for 42 individual sets, taking her team just 14 weeks to build, aping and decorate Gatsby’s mansion.
Designs for the residence were inspired by the great 20th century houses of Long Island’s North Shore. Where as Gatsby’s bedroom has traditional arched windows, with polished hardwoods, a harlequin-pattern wall covering of silk crisscrossed with ribbons of wood and a gray and gold Art Deco styled rug.
The sitting room features a vibrant mix of styes, from European Deco to Hollywood Regency, evoking a fashionable luxury.
