Megalo-Martini-Mania at megalomaniac
Icewine Martinis… what more can we say? Come by and experience our signature martinis that highlight this sweet elixir, and even learn how to make them yourself!
Because I was the designated driver, I got bubbling pomegranate juice. What I like about this winery was the unique branding they have on their labels. It man with the boiler hat is an icon symbol painted by Magritte called ‘The Son of Man’ which they are modifying to fit their many unique wines. I quite like the label where the writing is upside down. If you didn’t think you were drunk, you will with this wine.

Buddha-bing!
The Smokin’ Buddha food truck outside tells you something special is happening at Malivoire. Something exotic and Asian… passport holders can taste Chef Kevin’s Smoked Duck Winter Rice Rolls beside our racy Riesling Icewine.
We got an extra tasting of wine and cheese at this winery. The cheese melted in my mouth. The rice roll, was a lot of rice in the roll and not that much smoked duck.

A Daring Pairing ~ Chili Heat + Sweet
Stop by the winery for a taste of Chef Sider’s almost famous Venison and Dark Chocolate Chili which is sure to warm your insides. Our pairing is a bit out-of-the-box but we think that it is brilliant with our 2010 Cabernet Franc Icewine!
This was the best sample of the day. The Venison Chili was amazing and tasted like normal chili. The dark chocolate was very subtle. What I didn’t know about this winery is that there is a restaurant attached to it. So you can enjoy their wine with some well priced meals.

Earth Shattering
Your best dessert experience? Shattering the crisp sugary top of Crème Brûlée! Created by August Restaurant featured on “You Gotta Eat Here”. Their twist? Adding succulent roasted sweet potato layered with subtle cardamom which is seductive with our award-winning Vidal Icewine.
Because I was the designed driver, I was served a cardamon tea with hints of orange to give me the same reaction I would as if I was drinking their Vidal Icewine. The crème brûlée was so good. It was just the right amount of sweetness. I learned that the house is a traditional victorian farm house. It has been around to harvest 8 vintages and had some renovations done which can be seen in the kitchen.

Chocolate + Icewine = Bliss
It’s wine country mathematics! Join us to sip on our 2012 Dean’s List Savant Icewine, made from a blend of five red wine varietals, paired with a delicious dark chocolate-crusted, white chocolate raspberry cheesecake bite from our very own Benchmark Restaurant!
I liked the label for this wine. And I must say that only students can get away with mixing different varieties wines together.

Opposites Attract
Your taste buds will be captivated with how our Chardonnay Recioto cozies up to homemade Stracciatella Soup. Then discover the chemistry between our Vidal Icewine paired with a slice of a premium cured Soppressatta.
I did not eat at this winery, but was shocked at the level of detail they put into the winery. Apparently, the little village is a direct replica of the owners grand parent’s village in Italy. The fountain has yet to be installed. But it has that baller status of Peller and Two Sisters in terms of grandness and legacy.

Back by Popular Demand!
Chicken and Waffles! A fluffy sweet waffle topped with crispy seasoned fried chicken with Estate Chef Tim MacKiddie’s secret Icewine inspired sauce paired perfectly with our Riesling Icewine; a treat that will warm your heart this season.
When everything is infused with icewine, it can’t go wrong. I was surprised to learn that they were serving their $120 bottle of sparkling red icewine. I remember having it last year and not being able to afford it then. I wonder how many broke the bank with this one.

Cabernet, All the Way!
Winery Chef and CityLine personality Jason Parsons is putting a twist on his famous Icewine Marshmallows. Enjoy a glass of award winning and world renowned Cabernet Franc Icewine while you roast a delicious Cabernet Franc Icewine Marshmallow over an open fire.
Here it’s all about manoeuvring yourself to not smell like a smokey fire. Next time, I would like to visit their ice bar which is located underground.

It’s Greek to Me!
Opa! An Authentic Greek bite with Niagara charm! Pork Souvlaki with preserved cherries paired with our Reserve Cabernet Franc Icewine.
Somehow we always manage to end up at Jackson-Triggs. The souvlaki was a little fatty but I got a large glass of cranberry juice. It was so convincing that a woman thought it was an actual glass of ice wine…I wish.
