This year, the 2017 Interior Design Show came back with a full force. For the first time in several years, this pinnacle event to showcasing the up-and-coming trends of the season finally has lived up to it’s name.
What I liked about most about the festival, in addition to the large exhibits by brand named sponsors. Are the little areas for Makers, Technology, Studio North, Wood and The Factory which allows visitors another perspective about what interior design is, and who are the people behind the designs.
This year, technology and colour took centre stage. Samsung, presented their Smarthome that featured their new LED lights, smart appliances and an app that connects everything together.
Caesarstone, presented, Jamie Heydon’s latest collection which took inspiration from clowns. The connection was made further when an opera singer broke out into song singing “Send in the Clowns”.
Beauti-tone, new exactly who their audience is and presented the latest colour trends for 2017 on high heeled pumps. Women are naturally drawn to shoes and shoes which tell a story is a new classic.
But what drew in the crowd was Partisan’s Factory, where they did performance design-art, showing the process of how they make their light collection. It’s quite hot near the furnace but the spectacular showmanship to Alex is something everyone wanted to see and capture with their phone.
