Richelle’s Real Estate Adventure – Episode 2 – Finding cheap real estate

It took about 14 hours to travel to Manitouwadge. We did stop to take in the sites. We checked out Perry Sound, Sudbury, Sue Sault Marie and Pancake Bay. Remember it was still Covid so restrictions were in place. When we arrived in Manitouwadge we tried to see as much as possible. It didn’t take very long. If you blink you might miss it all. It definitely had Schitt’s Creek vibes for sure.

We dropped our stuff off at the Airbnb and went to meet the realtor in the town. She had a bunch of properties lined up and was pretty honest. If I didn’t like a property we move on. During the tour, I learned a lot about heating and plumbing in the north. Some properties were good and others were not good. I would recommend doing some research and not being all action like me:) That’s why I brought my back up. My mother and niece would tell me straight up if a house was bad. While my cousin is a real investor so she can give me her opinion. Because of my background in design, I can see beyond what is there and see the potential of a space. My mind goes to what it could be than what is currently there.

After we saw all the properties, we all sat down and evaluated them. The one that won our hearts was what we called “the grandma house”. The location backed onto a golf course, it was in a great neighbourhood. It was vacant which meant I could start renovations to increase value.

Stay tuned for Episode 3 on how I made an offer…
